At the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference Taiwan 2026 (HIC Taiwan 2026), a panel session titled “Rethinking Education in Taiwan through Biodiversity and ‘Monodzukuri’”—held in partnership with Focus Systems Corporation, a technology-driven company actively supporting STEM education initiatives—will bring together experts from academia, industry, and science communication to explore the evolving role of education in shaping a sustainable future.
HIC Taiwan 2026 serves as a platform where researchers, corporations, startups, and government stakeholders converge across disciplines to generate new knowledge and collaborative projects addressing complex societal challenges.
Taiwan stands at a unique intersection of strengths—its globally competitive manufacturing sector and its rich biodiversity. This session will critically examine whether the current education system adequately reflects these assets while preparing for emerging environmental and societal challenges.
Through interdisciplinary dialogue, the panel will explore education in Taiwan from three key perspectives: biodiversity research, science communication, and manufacturing (“monodzukuri”) education. Discussions will address curriculum design, research infrastructure, and the importance of lifelong learning in fostering both environmental literacy and industrial innovation.
By integrating these viewpoints, the session aims to provide insights into how education systems can simultaneously support ecological understanding and sustainable economic development, offering a model for future-oriented education in Taiwan and beyond.
