We humans, who walk on two legs, have been wearing footwear to protect our own feet since as far back as BC. Even in Japan, where a unique footwear culture of geta, sandals, and zori was nurtured, Western-style footwear has become widespread since World War II. While the shoe culture is rich in functionality and fashion, the confinement of the feet in shoes has also caused adverse effects, such as the loss of foot health. By redefining the existence of "shoes," which can be said to be the origin of mankind, and adding new knowledge along with cutting-edge research, the future of "shoes" may change. In this session, we will discuss the future of "shoes" with researchers who focus on the effects of barefoot, doctors who provide comprehensive treatment for foot diseases, and shoe craftsmen from Ikuno Ward, Osaka City, who are professionals in shoe-making.

We will have a program of discussions among researchers, venture companies, and large corporations from various perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session.
We are currently accepting applications for audience participation and research poster presentations. Please visit the conference website (see below).
