The Nucleus of Innovation: Microbiology Connecting Disciplines and Sectors

The Microbiology Innovation Summit (MIS) 2026 is the very first Summit held in the Philippines.

This Summit builds on the foundation of interdisciplinary collaboration established in the HIC Forum, advancing toward a more integrated and outward-facing research ecosystem. With Iloilo as a growing hub for microbiological research, the summit positions microbiology not as an isolated discipline, but as a central science at the crossroads of multiple sectors and societal needs. This highlights the dual role of microbiology in the society especially in Visayas:

• As a driver of innovation and solutions in key sectors such as marine science, agriculture, natural resources, food systems, and medicine
• And as a field that is enriched and advanced through collaboration with disciplines such as engineering, data science, policy, and the social sciences
