The Society of Hyperdifferent Fields, Osaka 2025] Prescription for Totooru, Kaori / September 6, 2025 (Sat.)

2025.07.18
[Hyperdiscipline Conference Osaka 2025] Prescription for Totoou, Kaori / Saturday, September 6, 2025.

At the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference Osaka 2025, hosted by LIVERNESS, we will hold the session "Prescription for Tonou, Kaori" (session partner: ESTE Co., Ltd.).

Recent studies have revealed that olfactory sensitivity to smell also varies with time. However, the biological clock of the sense of smell itself and the effects of smell on the various clocks in the body are still largely unknown. In this session, together with researchers of biological clocks and a venture company with unique sleep measurement technology, we will focus on the biological mechanisms that perceive scents and the psychological and physiological responses they induce, and explore their potential application to our wellness.

We will have a program of discussions with researchers, ventures, and companies from a variety of perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session. For more information,Conference Websitefor more information.

He began his research on the mechanism of biological clock oscillation at the Department of Biochemistry, Graduate School of Science, Osaka University (Institute for Protein Research, Osaka University). After that, he worked on molecular mechanisms of memory formation at the University of Tokyo and the University of Washington (Seattle, USA), and is currently working on the diurnal rhythm regulation of brain functions. Using mainly mice, he is currently investigating whether memory learning efficiency, anxiety and depression-like behavior, and olfactory responses differ depending on the time of day, and if so, what mechanisms regulate them, and their relationship with the biological clock, at both the molecular and individual levels.
