At the Super-Different Field Conference Tokyo 2026, hosted by RIVANES, the session "Before the Great Extinction of Basic Researchers
- Designing Effective Research Communities that Go Beyond Short-Term Results Bias -" (Session Partner: Bio Impact Inc.)
It has been pointed out that the evaluation of researchers is biased toward quantitative indicators such as external funding and number of publications, making it difficult to foster intrinsic exploration of issues and challenging research. In addition, the instability of research careers and the lack of time for research by faculty members in international comparisons are also becoming apparent. Can an "effective research community" be created to enable researchers to continue essential research and regain a sense of challenge in the face of these macro and micro challenges? Based on the experiences of practitioners who have created and supported communities, we will delve into specific measures for design and operation.
We will have a program of discussions with researchers, ventures, and companies from a variety of perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session. For more information,Conference Websitefor more information.

Through his research experience in graduate school, he realized the challenge of the closed nature of the academic world and the need to create an environment where diverse researchers can mingle. With this awareness of the issue, he launched the academic crowdfunding "academist(https://academist-cf.com/), a non-profit organization that supports research funding and research PR for more than 500 people. To date, he has helped more than 500 people obtain research funding, supported research PR, and planned and managed more than 100 research events. In recent years, he has also focused on building collaborative programs connecting researchers with companies and local governments and supporting startups in the DeepTech field, promoting projects that link research and society under the banner of "Open academia.
