Much has been discussed recently about extending healthy life expectancy. Physical and mental health is changing to the point where the search for new biomarkers and behavioral interventions based on scientific evidences make the realization of healthy longevity possible. In this session, researchers who are challenging the major theme of aging from various angles will gather to exchange cutting-edge knowledge and create a culture of health from the land of Osaka.

 

We have prepared a program of discussions among researchers, venture companies, and large corporations from various perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session. We are currently accepting applications for audience participation. Please visit the conference website (see below).

Professor, Department of Bioscience, Faculty of Agriculture, Tokai University
Ryuji Nagai

D. in Medicine from the Graduate School of Medicine, Kumamoto University, and a Master's degree in Life and Health Sciences from the University of Shizuoka. He was an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University, a lecturer at Japan Women's University, and an associate professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Tokai University before assuming his current position. He became interested in the mechanism of aging and started his research on AGEs (AGEs) in his master's course, which led him to the study of AGEs. Although the structure of AGEs was unknown at the beginning of her research, she has been quantifying biological AGEs using monoclonal antibodies and mass spectrometry, and identifying novel AGEs that may serve as predictive markers for pathological conditions.

Motoyuki Iemitsu

D. from the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tsukuba. He was a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Research Associate at the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, University of Tsukuba, and Associate Professor at the College of Sports and Health Science, Ritsumeikan University before assuming his current position. He is also a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition. He specializes in exercise physiology and biochemistry. He conducts basic and applied research on exercise and nutrition (supplements) for the prevention and improvement of lifestyle-related diseases (especially cardiovascular diseases and diabetes) and sarcopenia in the elderly.

Jyo Inoue
D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. He is a founding member of LIVERNESS. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as an assistant professor and lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Kitasato University, and an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, before being appointed and concurrently serving as a specially-appointed associate professor at the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University in 2015, and as a professor of advanced pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University and a visiting professor at Keio University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018. While conducting research and development, he is a researcher involved in launching joint research projects with universities and research institutions and supporting the establishment of research institutes.

D. in 2012 from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, where he was involved in elucidating the significance of neuronal cell death that occurs during brain development. He has been working on the construction of an ecosystem that continuously creates nature-symbiotic industries by maximizing local resources such as the natural environment, technology, agriculture, forestry, fisheries products, history, and culture. He is a member of the "Kumamoto Prefecture Next Generation Venture Creation Support Consortium," which is composed of Kumamoto Prefecture, Higo Bank, Kumamoto University, and the Kumamoto Prefectural Federation of Industry.
