Riverness will sponsor the event.Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Osaka Forum 2019(Saturday, May 18, 2019), a panel discussion on "The Future of Researchers - From University to Venture, Another Way to Utilize Research Results for Society" (session partner: Real Tech Fund) will be held.
To make use of research results generated in the field of research for the benefit of society. This is the mission of all researchers. Today, researchers belonging to universities and research institutes are also required to have contact with society. What kind of existence should researchers have for society? Three researchers will discuss how researchers should be and how they should think in the coming era.
We will have a program of discussions among researchers, venture companies, and large corporations from various perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session.

Masayo Takahashi, M.D., Ph.
D. from Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 1992. After working as an assistant at Kyoto University School of Medicine, he became a researcher at the Salk Institute in 1995, where he discovered the possibility of using stem cells for retinal therapy. He started clinical research on autologous iPS cell-derived retinal pigment epithelial sheet transplantation for exudative age-related macular degeneration and transplanted the first case in September 2014. In March 2017, he performed a transplantation using a suspension of retinal pigment epithelial cells derived from other iPS cells.

Koichi Yamakawa, Ph.
Leader of Laser Medical Application Research Group, Quantum Beam Science Division, Quantum Life Science Research Department, National Institute of Quantum Science and Technology. He established Light Touch Technology Inc. to utilize his laser technology directly for the benefit of people. With cutting-edge laser as its core technology, he is developing a small non-invasive blood glucose sensor business that can be widely used from hospitals to homes, aiming to improve the quality of life of diabetes patients, raise awareness of prevention among healthy people, and curb the increase in the diabetes population.

Jyo Inoue, Ph.
D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Tokyo University of Pharmacy and Life Sciences. He is a founding member of LIVERNESS. After completing his doctoral studies, he worked as an assistant professor and lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Kitasato University, and an assistant professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, before being appointed and concurrently serving as a specially-appointed associate professor at the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University in 2015, and as a professor of advanced pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University and a visiting professor at Keio University's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2018. While conducting research and development, he is a researcher involved in launching joint research projects with universities and research institutions and supporting the establishment of research institutes.
