Professor Emeritus Takeo Ogawa, Kyushu University & Yamaguchi University, will deliver a keynote address at the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference Thailand 2026, organised by Leave a Nest and hosted by Thammasat University. His address will be titled “Innovation in an Ageing Society: Challenges and Opportunities”.

Innovation in an Ageing Society: Challenges and Opportunities.

As populations around the world age at unprecedented rates, societies face a profound transformation that challenges existing economic structures, healthcare systems, and social norms. In this keynote, Professor Emeritus Takeo Ogawa, a renowned scholar in gerontology and a leading voice in ageing policy, explores how demographic shifts can catalyse meaningful innovation rather than strain national resources.

Drawing on decades of research and international collaboration, Professor Ogawa will examine emerging pressures on caregiving, community design, and labour markets, while highlighting the substantial opportunities created by the longevity revolution. From age-inclusive technologies and reimagined urban environments to the silver economy and intergenerational innovation models, this keynote illuminates how stakeholders across government, industry, and academia can harness ageing as a driver of sustainable growth.
