Forum Overview

The Okinawa Sectional Meeting of the Association of Transdisciplinary Studies was held as a forum for young researchers who bear responsibility for the development of Okinawa, including junior high school students, high school students, technical college students, university students, and graduate students, to gather across disciplines and generations to discuss Okinawa's revitalization. Under the theme of "Starting Point for Okinawa Revitalization: Let's Focus on Issues Close to Home," 32 participants, mainly junior high and high school students, but also working adults, gathered for discussions.

Five research presentations were given by students and four business presentations were given by companies. In the "Future Map Workshop," participants were asked to think about the future of Okinawa, and were encouraged to think about the hospital 100 years from now! Let's create food 100 years from now! and "Let's think about life on remote islands 100 years from now! and "Let's think about life on a remote island 100 years from now!
In addition, Mr. Senzen Meng, Director of the International Development Division, gave a special lecture on what it takes to make things happen, sharing his own experiences at LIVANES.
