symposium
Learn about cutting-edge research to connect iPS cells to society
Ten years have passed since the first establishment of iPS cells was reported in mice. Not only has basic research progressed, but also applications to drug discovery and regenerative medicine are advancing. On the other hand, there are various hurdles to overcome, such as the establishment of manufacturing processes for industrialization, and challenges continue to be faced by academia and industry. We will invite young researchers who are at the forefront of this field in Japan to give a bird's eye view of the current situation.

Integrating Enteric Medicine and Data Science
The relationship between gut microbiota and health has been reported, and attention to the gut has been increasing. This year's event will bring together researchers who analyze intestinal bacteria, young doctors who continue to disseminate information on the intestines, and data scientists who are indispensable in linking the vast amount of data on intestinal bacteria and the human condition, to develop a different kind of discussion.

The Strike Back at the Town Factories -From Subcontractor to Frontrunner
While new manufacturing trends such as 3D printers, digital manufacturing, and IoT are attracting attention, there are also venture companies and "artisan" factories that continue to take on challenges beyond those of large companies. We have invited four presidents of such edgy factories to talk about the future of manufacturing that transcends the conventional image of subcontracted factories.

Special Talk Session/Panel Discussion
Real Tech Venture Takes Large Corporations to Fairytale World
-The world's top accelerators and VCs talk about their vision for the venture ecosystem.
A Silicon Valley icon and founding member of PlugandPlay, the largest high-tech business accelerator in the U.S., joins the competition! Director of Singularity University in Silicon Valley, which is attracting worldwide attention as a new style of venture acceleration and investment institution, joins the competition!
Today, it is not uncommon for large companies to establish their own collaboration schemes with venture companies, as they are strongly oriented toward joint efforts. However, the fundamental question of why venture companies are necessary and the vision of what kind of world they want to achieve through collaboration are not often discussed. This leads to a state of "open innovation for the time being," and as a result, nothing will happen. In this session, we invite the world's top accelerators and VCs from Silicon Valley and Singapore, each of whom have more than 1,000 contacts with venture companies annually, to discuss their vision of the venture ecosystem.

panel discussion
Let's talk about the future of open innovation.
The "open innovation" method, in which various organizations such as large corporations, start-ups, universities, and local governments collaborate with each other to create new research ideas and technological seeds, is becoming increasingly important these days. The need to go beyond existing networks to create new value by combining ideas and resources from inside and outside organizations. Various efforts have been made to create new industries and promote R&D in Japan. This session will discuss the path that open innovation should take in the future from a variety of perspectives, drawing on the knowledge and expertise that each company has cultivated.
