Envisioning the Future of Industry-Academia Collaboration

A panel discussion entitled "Envisioning the Future of Industry-Academia Collaboration" (session partner: Nagoya University Organization for the Creation of Future Society) will be held during the 9th Annual Conference of the Association for Transdisciplinary Research, hosted by RIVANES (March 6-7, 2020 (Friday and Saturday)).

There is no doubt that research results produced by universities are one of the major driving forces that propel our society forward. In addition to the booming university-launched startups, universities have begun to explore ways to promote open innovation, and there is a growing momentum within ministries and agencies to create mechanisms to accelerate R&D and commercialization that transcend sectoral frameworks, especially among young employees. However, there is still a wall that needs to be crossed between the government and industry, which is the main body of social implementation. In this session, we will discuss the future of industry-academia collaboration, with three speakers who are currently challenging this barrier, and summarize the challenges and issues from the standpoints of the government, universities, and the private sector.

We will have a program of discussions among researchers, start-ups, and large companies from a variety of perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session.
Audience members are invited to attend the conference. Please visit the conference website (see below).
