Presentation
Mitsubishi Electric Idea Plus

Mitsubishi Electric Ideas Plus" (session partner: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation), where researchers and local factories will battle ideas based on technologies from large companies (session partner: Mitsubishi Electric Corporation), will be held within the 7th Super Interdisciplinary Society of Japan Main Conference (March 2 and 3, 2018 @ TEPIA Advanced Technology Pavilion) hosted by LIVANES.

There are technologies that remain underutilized by large companies. This project was launched as an attempt to shed light on these technologies from a different perspective and to see if there is a way to increase the chances of their implementation in society. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation kindly provided us with their own technology as a springboard for this project.

Sea Aerial, a seawater antenna capable of transmitting and receiving radio waves in the seawater column
Smart Air Coating" prevents dust, water droplets, and ice and snow from adhering with a film of air

The players who will come up with new applications are people from universities, research institutes, and local factories. Through the process of developing a plan in each team, we aim to develop human resources who can think of new applications for technology.

Advance registration is required to attend the lecture, so please register as soon as possible.

*Sea Aerial, a seawater antenna capable of transmitting and receiving radio waves in the seawater water column
This is a power-feeding structure (insulated nozzle) that allows high-frequency current to flow efficiently only to the antenna transmitting/receiving area, without passing current into the seawater. The thickness of the water column sufficient to function as an antenna is determined by simulation, and antenna efficiency at a practical level is also achieved.

*"Smart Air Coating" prevents dust, water droplets, and ice and snow from sticking to the surface with a film of air.
This is a proprietary super water-repellent material that uses advanced technology to disperse nanoparticles into a hydrophobic resin. It can form a micrometer-sized concavo-convex structure, and this structure forms an air film that inhibits the adhesion of dust, water droplets, ice and snow. It can be applied to any base material, from metals to plastics and paper.

In addition to this discussion, we have prepared a number of cross-disciplinary programs over the two days, including cutting-edge research in academia, the latest startups, and advanced manufacturing initiatives in Japan. We are looking forward to your participation.

Applications for auditing (due February 28) are available on the conference website (see below).

What is the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference?

Since 2002, when RIVERNESS was founded, we have held an annual "Super Hetero-Disciplinary Exchange Meeting" where students and researchers participating in internship programs at RIVERNESS discuss their thoughts on their research and issues they wish to solve through their research. Since 2012, the conference has evolved into a "super interdisciplinary conference" with the participation of researchers from industry and academia, where discussions are held from a broader perspective.

Today, the meeting is held annually as a gathering of people from diverse fields and industries, ranging from junior high and high school students, researchers and engineers in academia (including engineers from local factories), people involved in venture companies, accelerators, and managers and business development personnel from large corporations.
