Bringing Knowledge Manufacturing in the Visayas: the First Local Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in the Philippines to Happen in Iloilo

Leave a Nest Philippines, with its mission of “Harmonizing Science and Technology Stakeholders for the Empowerment of the Filipinos”, continues to bring its initiatives to various regions in the Philippines. This time, the first ever Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference 2025 Iloilo Forum (HIC 2025 Iloilo Forum) will happen on September 12, 2025 at Iloilo City.

The Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference is a program by Leave a Nest wherein researchers, scientists, startups, and companies across different fields gather together and present their studies (Official website: https://hic.lne.st/). Through this conference, participants can collaborate and create scientific discoveries and solutions together.

Knowledge Manufacturing for Addressing Local Challenges

The conference heavily involves discussions to give space for knowledge exchange between participants. And, we as Leave a Nest members (a pool of researchers and scientists) contribute to this discussion by sharing different ideas and discoveries that are within our vocabulary. On the other hand, Leave a Nest brings local and Japanese companies who seek to support research outputs and technologies that address social issues in order for them to become more impactful. And in the long run, we develop a business from them to make them more sustainable and scale. Hence, “Knowledge Manufacturing”, a unique concept designed by Leave a Nest. 

The synergy of two or more completely different disciplines has proven to be an impactful driver of innovation that helps solve issues in our society. For instance, a combination of computer science and dentistry results in the development of imaging systems for early detection of dental diseases; a fusion of music and medicine leads to advancements in ultrasound technology; and an integration of genetics, marine biology, and environmental science enables the bioengineering of corals for reef restoration. This is more especially powerful when the local strengths where these innovations that are being developed are at the forefront.

The HIC 2025 Iloilo Forum, with the theme, “Knowledge Manufacturing the Intersection of Research Horizons in the Visayas”, encourages local researchers and scientists in the Visayan region to explore beyond their disciplines by providing a space for collaboration and exchange of insights with other researchers from different fields. Through this, the forum ultimately aims to unify R&D leaders to build a collective goal and direction for the research ecosystem in Visayas, ultimately addressing challenges in sectors such as marine, agriculture, natural resources, gastronomy, and medicine—the core strengths of Iloilo's and Visayas' economy.

HIC 2025 Iloilo Forum opens its application to passionate students, university professors, startups, and companies in the Visayas Islands to present their scientific works and discoveries that are helping to address regional issues and problems in society! Researchers, academia, and goverment-affiliated individuals are also welcome to join for free!

• Research Splash Presenters – Take the stage to deliver a dynamic presentation of your research for 2 Minutes. Splash Presenters automatically get the chance to have a poster exhibit as well. (Limited to 20 Presenter Reservation Slots)
• Poster Presenters – Display your research visually in a dedicated poster session exhibit located within the venue. (Limited to 20 Poster Reservation Slots)
