[Speakers Announcement] HIC in the Philippines Panel Session 3 – Forest Resource Utilization: Taking Advantage and Care of Philippine Biodiversity
2023.11.10Opportunities for valuable interdisciplinary discussions are once again made available by Leave a Nest in the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference (HIC) that will be held this November 11, 2023. Researchers, companies and government institutions will be brought together for an exchange of knowledge during presentations and panel discussions. This year’s panel discussions will focus on tackling issues and solutions on education, health and the environment.
The third panel session for this year’s HIC Philippines is entitled “Forest Resource Utilization: Taking Advantage and Care of Philippine Biodiversity” where we will discuss the importance of our forest resources and explore how we can utilize them in a more sustainable manner. Through this discussion, the participants can learn more about how natural product researchers have been trying to discover or validate new uses of our forest and natural resources, and see how they can collaborate with government agencies and other institutions in conservation of these forest resources. This discussion also acts as a call for partners and collaborators for the same cause: protection and restoration of our forests and biodiversity.
The panelists for this session include a natural product researcher from the University of Antique who is recently focused on ethnobotany research in collaboration with a company overseas, and another researcher from the University of the Philippines Manila who is currently undertaking research on the chemistry of natural products. We will also be having a representative from the Center for Conservation Innovation Ph Inc. (CCIPH), a non-profit NGO that was set up to help enable and accelerate the achievement of effective and sustainable biodiversity conservation. Check out more information about these panelists below:
