ABOUT
What is the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference?
It is a place where researchers, large corporations, small factories, and venture companies, regardless of their field or industry, can fuse their knowledge and technology through discussion, identify new research themes and issues that humanity needs to face, and promote research together.

The era of pursuing individual profits has passed, and the time has come when it is natural to share the finite resources of the earth and cooperate with each other to survive and prosper. What are the important ideas and required technologies in such an era? At the Tokyo Congress of the Association of Hyperdifferent Fields, we will discuss the issues we must confront and new research themes through 18 sessions over two days. By connecting autonomous individuals gathered here to form a team of hyper-different fields equipped with new functions and mechanisms that surpass those of individuals, we aim to solve social issues that are becoming more sophisticated and complex.

    Takuji Akiyama
    • Plantex Corporation Director, Co-founder
    Graduated from Yokohama National University, Faculty of Engineering in 1998. Joined a manufacturing x IT venture company and engaged in CAD/CAM software development, and after moving to a financial SIer in 2010, engaged in market risk management software development for major banks and securities companies. In 2014, he encountered an artificially-lit plant factory, and sensing its great impact and potential for food and agriculture, he founded Plantex, Inc. with Representative Yamada and others. Starting with the development of a cloud system to manage plant factories, he has been engaged in the development of cultivation equipment and the launch of plant factories. Currently, he is in charge of the Project Management Division, which conducts plant cultivation research with customers.

    Takahiro Adachi
    • Tokyo Medical and Dental University Associate Professor, Department of Joint Research, Institute for Intractable Diseases
    D. in Agriculture from the Graduate School of Agriculture, Nagoya University. After working as an assistant at the Nagoya University Faculty of Agriculture, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor Michael Reth at the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology, Germany, and as a lecturer, assistant professor, and associate professor at the Department of Immunological Diseases, Tokyo Medical and Dental University. In 2022, he received the Japanese Association for Food Immunology Award. In the same year, he founded the Cho-Health Consortium, which aims to create a sustainable, long-lived, healthy society that integrates everything from agriculture to medicine.

After working as an assistant professor at the Advanced Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, he has been working as an assistant professor at the Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences, Tohoku University since 2019. 2019 Established AZUL Energy, Inc. and serves as a director. Through the development of catalytic electrode technology (AZUL catalyst), he aims to realize a recycling-oriented society based on clean energy.

    From 2005 to 2015, he was engaged in information education as a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Chiba University. Since 2016, he has been teaching programming and network development as a teacher of information business at Iwatani Gakuen Techno Business Yokohama College of Nursing and Childcare.
    Currently, he is also the ICT Section Chief at Iwatani Gakuen Headquarters and the Assistant Director of the Preparatory Office for the establishment of East Hokkaido IT Vocational College. In the Preparatory Office, he is developing the curriculum to further explore smart dairy farming and smart tourism in the specialized courses, using ICT (AI programming, xR (cross reality), metaverse, drone (solidarity flight program), statistics and analysis) as common subjects in the Department of Information Technology for the Future of the Region.

At the university, he was engaged in research on the structure determination of human sweet taste receptors using glycyl lytic acid derivatives. At LIVERNESS, he has been involved in the creation of regional industries in Gunma, Gifu, Shiga, Osaka, etc., and in the promotion of R&D and commercialization in the food tech area, with a focus on finding and supporting startups. Currently, as a member of the Manufacturing and Development Division, he promotes collaboration between small and medium-sized companies and startups. In education, he founded "Science Castle," an academic society for junior high and high school students, and also serves as a director of NEST EdLAB, Inc., an education-related subsidiary of the group.

After completing his PhD process, he worked as an Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Kitasato University, Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, and Specially Appointed Associate Professor at Keio University before assuming and concurrently serving as Professor of Advanced Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kumamoto University and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Keio University from 2018. He is a researcher and manager involved in launching joint research projects with universities and research institutions and supporting the establishment of research institutes while conducting research and development. He has also been involved in the establishment of many venture companies and serves as an advisor.

    Daiki Iwasa

    Born in 1977 in Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. In 2002, while still a university student, he started Zunou, an IT consulting service company, and in 2011, after the Great East Japan Earthquake, he founded GRA to help rebuild his hometown, Yamamoto-cho, which was devastated by the disaster. He has made it his life's work to "re-create Tohoku" with a focus on advanced horticulture. He has brought about structural reform in the agricultural business, creating the "migaki strawberry," which costs 1,000 yen a piece. He is the author of "99%'s Despair in 1%'s Chance" (Diamond Inc.), "Sweet and Sour Management" (Bookwalker), and "Successful Farming for People Who Never Want to Give Up" (Asahi Shinbun Publishing). His life theme is "Let's live like we travel. His hobbies are surfing and kickboxing.

    D. in Science. While in school, he explored the origin of life through his study abroad experience in the U.S. In 2013, he joined LIVERNESS, Inc. In the Human Resource Development Division, he developed U.S. training programs for young Japanese researchers. After two years as a general manager of the division, he became the editor-in-chief of the booklet "Founding Support" and engaged in dialogue with many venture executives. Later, after gaining experience in assisting Japanese deep-tech startups to enter Southeast Asia and Southeast Asian startups to enter the Japanese market, he became the General Manager of the Group Development Business Division in October 2021. He aims to establish a knowledge platform that integrates Southeast Asia and Japan in order to maximize the RIVERNESS Group.

He was appointed President and Representative Director of Glocalink, where he remains to this day. He has a proven track record of providing hands-on support to pre-startup teams and investing in and fostering venture companies immediately after their establishment. He also serves as Growth Manager of the Real Tech Fund and Director of the Center for Investment Development and Research at Liverness, Inc.

Currently, in the Manufacturing Development Division, he is taking on the challenge of creating products that will change the world toward the realization of a new world illuminated by science and technology.

Specializing in genetic engineering, microalgae science, and information biology, he has worked as a JST researcher and PD at Harvard University, and is currently a professor in the Department of Bioscience at Nagahama Institute of Bio-Science and Technology. While promoting basic research, he won prizes in competitions such as Shiga Tech Planter and Marine Tech GP, which increased his confidence that his research would contribute to society.He founded Novelgen in 2019 and currently promotes decarbonization and water purification projects that harness the power of microalgae. He is particularly focused on improving the marine environment.

Worked for many years in the research department of a precision machinery manufacturer in solution business development promoting the shift from products to services. In particular, he promoted open innovation activities at three bases in Japan, the U.S., and Singapore. Most recently, at a machine tool manufacturer, he launched and managed a CVC from a new manufacturing perspective, promoting metal recycling business, additive manufacturing business, and DX solutions. He joined Canon MJ in May 2023. As General Manager in charge, he is in charge of building a new business development organization.

He established Jiksak Bioengineering, Inc. in 2017 with the aim of drug discovery for ALS.

Short Pitches by Researchers, Ventures, etc. Super Interdisciplinary Splash

The name "Splash" comes from the meaning of the word "splash," which means "a splash of water or other substance." Researchers and venture capitalists give 90-second pitches to the audience, telling them what they want to do and what they are looking for from the participants. The aim is to find passionate researchers and to use their pitches as inspiration to come up with new ideas. Keynote Speech 1] LIBERNESS Research Award 2024 Advanced Research Promotion Division

Dr. Tanaka's research has focused on the hydrophilicity of biointerfaces. Surfaces related to living organisms, such as biomaterials and cells, are often wet to begin with, and he is involved in the development of evaluation methods for the hydrophilicity of such wet surfaces. In addition, many cells are known to have a highly hydrophilic structure in their outermost layer, and since the hydrophilicity changes when the constituent components change, we are challenging the evaluation of biological functions through hydrophilicity evaluation. We will interview Dr. Tanaka, who is opening up a new research field from both engineering and biotechnology perspectives, about his latest endeavors. session release

The name "Splash" comes from the meaning of the word "splash," which means "a splash of water or other substance." Keynote Speech (2) RIVERNESS Research Award 2024, Social Implementation Category "Deepening Science and Enriching Lives through Materials Design Based on Biological Science" (Japanese only)

Fuel cells and hydrogen energy systems, which are attracting attention as next-generation energy devices, use platinum, a rare metal, and resource constraints and cost have been one of the bottlenecks in their widespread use. Abe and his colleagues have developed a new material, AZUL, made from metal complex blue pigment and inexpensive carbon materials. This AZUL shows excellent catalytic performance in terms of both electromotive force and power generation performance, and is currently under development for commercialization as a platinum substitute catalyst. Meanwhile, in academia, the company is conducting research on environmentally friendly batteries, and is promoting research based on a flexible concept of applying the excellent functions of the natural world to advanced technologies. session release
