Prof. Iwane Suzuki is a distinguished faculty member at the University of Tsukuba, specializing in plant molecular biology and genetics, focusing on He earned his Ph.D. from Nagoya University in 1994. His research encompasses molecular stress mechanisms in cyanobacteria and microalgae, signal transduction, functional genomics, and biofuel development. He has received the Young Scientist Promotion Award and was named Best Faculty Prof. Suzuki leads innovative projects on microalgae-based sustainable biofuels and has numerous publications in respected journals. Special Lecture
Special lecture given by Dr Ian Watson is a Reader in Applied Energy, in the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow. with a background in laser physics and engineering, his current research encompasses a broad area from improving thermochemical processing, mainly pyrolysis and gasification, microalgae systems and processes, including growth, dewatering and extraction for high value products, nutrition, biofuel and novel forms of decontamination. Work addressing scalability from lab to commercial deployment plays an increasingly important role, with physical twinning and modelling systems based on mechanistic, machine learning and AI models for biorefineries.
