What is the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference?

It is a place where researchers, large corporations, small factories, and venture companies, regardless of their field or industry, can fuse their knowledge and technology, identify new research themes and issues that humanity needs to face, and promote research together, through discussion. Participants from different fields and industries constructively discuss the creation of unprecedented research themes and approaches to problem solving, and continue to work together to set up cutting-edge R&D projects that transcend barriers.

About the Society of Hyperdifferential Studies, Osaka 2023

It is believed that Homo sapiens has survived to the present day and has been able to expand its plate thanks to its biological structure that allows it to express complex speech through vocalization, allowing it to repeat its inventions while sharing knowledge, experiences, and fantasies through dialogue. from the end of 2019. The ongoing coronal disasters still have a significant impact on our health and society, but there are more and more opportunities to actually meet face-to-face and engage in dialogue. The Super Interdisciplinary Society of Japan Osaka Conference 2023 will be a place where knowledge and deep issues from around the world will gather in Osaka, just before the World Expo, to create new dialogues that will create the future and create repeated opportunities for its realization.

Pitches by researchers and venture companies in very different fields
Technology Splash."
Technology Splash, named after the meaning of the word "splash," which means "to splash or splash (water, etc.)," is an opportunity for researchers and venture companies to pitch what they want to do and what they are looking for from the participants in a 90-second pitch. The goal is to find passionate researchers and to use their pitches as inspiration for new ideas, while being exposed to the knowledge and enthusiasm of researchers who appear one after another. The aim is then to develop into more in-depth discussions at the poster presentations, leading to the creation of new collaborative research.

Building and Using Quantum Computers in Ultra-Different Fields."
The RIKEN Quantum Computing Research Center is researching and developing a superconducting quantum computer. While continuing research on individual elemental technologies, we developed a prototype of a highly scalable superconducting quantum computer at the end of 2022, which was released as the first domestically produced quantum computer in 2023 for the purpose of supporting education at domestic research institutions. From now on, quantum computers are expected to achieve further performance improvements, feeding on breakthroughs made through collaboration with a wide range of fields. In the midst of these growing expectations, the speaker will discuss how quantum computers are made as hardware, where there is room for improvement as hardware, and how they can be applied in research in other fields.

Can hydroponics bring out the full potential of medicinal plants?

Session Partner: Rohto Pharmaceutical Co.

Medicinal plants are widely used as raw materials for pharmaceuticals such as Chinese herbal medicines, as well as for health foods and cosmetics, and their demand is increasing year by year. On the other hand, the stable supply of medicinal plants has become an issue due to the situation in Japan and abroad. Under such circumstances, plant factories, which are not affected by the cultivation site or climate, are expected to be an approach to produce high-quality, safe and reliable medicinal plants. In this session, we will discuss how to bring out the full potential of medicinal plants through hydroponic cultivation.

How to visualize biodiversity and create value?

Session Partner: Focus Systems, Inc.

Reports and recommendations are being made globally to visualize and mainstream the value of natural capital, biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our livelihoods are supported by "ecosystem services," the bounty derived from biodiversity, such as food and water supplies and climate stability, which are essential for human survival and good quality of life. Although the rate of biodiversity loss in Japan has been mitigated over the past 50 years, more in-depth and concrete actions are required to achieve the Nature Positive 2030 Mission. This session will consider mechanisms to turn both nature recovery and economic value around.

Aiming to upcycle 100 million tons of rice husks

Session Partner: Satake Corporation

Rice is the staple food of the Japanese and many Southeast Asians. We have developed various technologies to make rice tastier, but in the process we have also produced many by-products. In particular, we focus on "rice husks," which are currently shipped for free from rice processing plants and used as fuel additives and fertilizers. How far can the value of rice chaff, which emits 2 million tons in Japan and 140 million tons worldwide annually, be raised through technology? In this session, we will focus especially on industrial applications such as functional carbon materials and bio-carbons, and discuss them.

Planetary Health driven by the power of small decomposers

Session Partner: Euglena Co.

Since the birth of plants on the earth, they have been fertilizing the earth by repeating the process of growth and decomposition. In this process, small creatures such as microorganisms and insects have continued to play an important role as decomposers. The processes of growth and decomposition have been in balance for a long time, but this balance has been disrupted by the production of large amounts of plant-derived residues by humans. There is a movement to solve this problem by introducing chemical processes, but in this session, we would like to focus again on the power of microorganisms and insects. In addition, we would like to discuss the possibility of creating new industries in the process of improving the health of the earth.
