Successfully conducted 2nd HIC in Thailand!
On November 25, 2023, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd. conducted the annual Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference in Thailand at Chulalongkorn 57 attendees comprising of professors, startup founders, students and researchers attended this event. 's HIC Thailand 2023 theme is "Emulsification of Culture and Technology, building a Global Hub the Thai Way". which suggest the importance of considering both culture and technology when solving different challenges in the society. 'Emulsification' is an important word to consider in this conference, and describes the importance of bringing different individuals together to solve complex societal issues.
HIC Thailand 2023 started with an opening ceremony, followed by research splash session, poster session, 4 panel sessions and ending with a closing remark. The opening ceremony began with a delivery by Dr. Cheah Hee, this year's HIC Thailand project leader. After the opening ceremony, we had the opportunity to look at researchers giving a 1 minute splash presentation to feature their research and to attract Researchers conveyed their research well to the audience and there were many Researchers conveyed their research well to the audience and there were many engaging conversations with the researchers during the poster sessions.

Dr Inoue Joe shared on his expertise in health-tech and the importance of research and accumulating knowledge, giving a good overview of the expectations for the upcoming panel sessions.

Despite having such great achievements, Thailand is troubled with societal issues such as an aging population. The keynote session covered some of the challenges that researchers faced in Thailand and some of the possible avenues for creating a Thai global hub. The keynote session was moderated by Dr Yuko Ueno (General manager, Leave a Nest Co . ., Ltd), with her team. Ltd), with her team of panellist consisting of Dr Pichaya Pattanasatayavong (Asst. Professor, VISTEC) and Dr Keita Ono (Senior VP of Innovation, KX Knowledge Xchange). Through this session, we have perspective from a Thailand University spin-off and a person with multidisciplinary skillsets.

Panel 2 is themed "Culture, Innovation, Collaboration: Thailand's pillars for a contemporary society. Great innovation adds value, progresses society and solves deep issues but this can sometimes be seen as disrupting the old and upsetting traditional norms. Through this panel session, we hope for listeners to engage with both sides, prompting more Panel session 2 was moderated by Dr Kihoko Tokue (Managing Director, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte Ltd. Finally, the closing remarks was presented by Dr. Kihoko Tokue, summarising the engaging discussions during the event. During the event, Leave a Nest members were engaged in a lot of meaningful discussions and we see many possible collaborations that could happen between the participants.

This year, we see participants of diverse backgrounds coming together on this HIC platform to solve societal challenges in Thailand. Additionally, the team of panellists were very diverse and provided interesting perspectives through the discussions.
