Agriculture and Food Changing with the Introduction of Smart Agriculture

A panel discussion, "Agriculture and Food Changing with the Introduction of Smart Agriculture," will be held within the 7th Annual Conference of the Association of Hyperdifferent Fields (March 2 and 3, 2018 @ TEPIA Advanced Technology Pavilion), hosted by Liverness, Inc.

The 7th Hyperdisciplinarity Conference Main Conference Web site:https://hic.lne.st/conference/kanto2018/

The aging of farmers, the lack of successors, and the inability to pass on farming techniques are some of the problems facing the agricultural sector, and attempts are being made to solve these problems by introducing advanced technologies such as IT and drones. In this session, we will invite producers as users, companies as system providers, and researchers who develop core technologies to discuss what is necessary for the diffusion of these technologies and how the diffusion of these technologies will change the field, and explore future predictions for agriculture and the direction of technology diffusion.

Advance registration is required to attend the lecture, so please register as soon as possible.

<Introduction of Panelists
Kawakami Village Mr. Tomohiro Nishio, Deputy Mayor and Head of Policy Coordination Office
Joined the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2009. After joining the Ministry, he was in charge of overall food safety administration planning, enforcement of livestock quarantine measures, and revision of laws and regulations related to agricultural material regulations. After being transferred to the Reconstruction Agency, he was in charge of the Fukushima Reconstruction and Revitalization Special Measures Law, which aims for early recovery and reconstruction from the nuclear power plant accident. He has been in his current position since April 2015. In Kawakami Village, he is in charge of leading the formulation of the village's mid-term plan, the Comprehensive Plan, etc., as well as planning and managing measures for population decline.

Mr. Kiichiro Katsumata, President and Representative Director, Drone Japan K.K.
He was in charge of sales and marketing at Microsoft for 23 years in the early stage of Windows and its expansion, and contributed to the foundation of the current IT industry. After a year of preparation, he and co-owner Haruhara started Drone Japan Corporation with the aim of revitalizing the skills of "agricultural artisans," the origin of Japanese manufacturing, through the use of drone IOT. They have created original businesses such as "drone software engineer training school" and "drone rice sales.

Dr. Kazuhiro Nishioka, Project Researcher, Institute for Ecological and Harmonious Agriculture, Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences, The University of Tokyo
He developed a low-cost sap flow sensor that measures the flow rate of sap sucked up by plants from their roots, and founded a venture company at the University of Tokyo to promote its use in the agricultural scene. At the same time, he has served as an advisor to several agri-tech ventures. His love of wine led him to organize Team Kisvin, a viticulture research group, 14 years ago, while he was involved in winemaking in Yamanashi, Japan. This year, he will start winemaking in California, USA.

In addition to this session, we have prepared a number of cross-disciplinary programs over the two days, including cutting-edge research in academia, the latest startups, and advanced manufacturing initiatives in Japan. We are looking forward to your participation.
Abstract registration (due February 5) and auditorium registration (due February 28) are available on the conference website (see below).

What is the Hyper Interdisciplinary Conference?

Since 2002, when RIVERNESS was founded, we have held an annual "Super Hetero-Disciplinary Exchange Meeting" where students and researchers participating in internship programs at RIVERNESS discuss their thoughts on their research and issues they wish to solve through their research. Since 2012, the conference has evolved into a "super interdisciplinary conference" with the participation of researchers from industry and academia, where discussions are held from a broader perspective.
Today, the meeting is held annually as a gathering of people from diverse fields and industries, ranging from junior high and high school students, researchers and engineers in academia (including engineers from local factories), people involved in venture companies, accelerators, and managers and business development personnel from large corporations.
