As Thailand moves toward a vision of “universities reimagined”, this transformation is driven by government policy, leading universities, and global developments. The goal is to modernise higher education so it better aligns with industry needs, enhances international competitiveness, and keeps pace with the digital era.
The theme for HIC TH 2026, “Re-imagining Connections: From Education to Ecosystem”, highlights how diverse areas of knowledge intersect to shape the future of Thai society. It begins with the foundation of social systems and communities, moves through the influential roles of industry and the environment, and culminates in education, where universities act as key catalysts for turning reimagination into reality.

Keynote Speech: Innovation in an Ageing Society:
Challenges and opportunities
Professor Takeo Ogawa is a distinguished Japanese sociologist and gerontologist, widely recognised for his work on ageing societies. He is Professor Emeritus at both Kyushu University and Yamaguchi University and serves as President of the Asian Aging Business Center. His research spans long-term care workforce development, community design for ageing populations, and international training programmes on elderly care. With his leadership in the establishment of the Active Ageing Consortium in Asia Pacific (ACAP) and involvement in key policy research for the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), he continues to shape the discourse on ageing in Asia.

Hyper Interdisciplinary Splash
The name "Splash" comes from the meaning of the word "splash," which means "a splash of water or other substance." Researchers and Startup Founders give 90-second pitches to the audience, telling them what they want to do and what they are looking for from the participants. The aim is to find passionate researchers and to use their pitches as inspiration to come up with new ideas. We then aim to develop the discussions into more in-depth discussions at the poster presentations, leading to the creation of new collaborative research.
