[HIC Taiwan]Session2: Developing a Resilient Society through Local Communication

The session, titled Developing a Resilient Society through Local Communication, aims to explore a future-oriented approach to community building. This theme is an expansive interpretation of the core competence of Support Co., Ltd., which lies in facilitating robust consensus-building and dialogue among local residents and diverse stakeholders in urban and regional development. We posit that by broadening our understanding of 'communication' beyond the human-to-human context, we can unlock new methods for addressing complex societal challenges.

Our discussion will feature an interdisciplinary panel, examining the issue through three distinct, yet interconnected, lenses. The first cut will focus on Urban Planning and Data, incorporating expertise in architecture, town planning, big data analysis, and the practical applications of the Living Lab concept to enhance urban resilience and participatory development. The second perspective introduces Bio-Acoustics and Communication, highlighting the importance of understanding communication in the wider environment—specifically, the use of sound analysis, such as in research on frogs, to advocate for a more inclusive, broad-spectrum view of ecological and societal co-existence. Finally, the third element will delve into the Technological and Business Applications of cutting-edge AI spatial information, exploring how these tools can be leveraged to drive both economic opportunity and intelligent urban management. Together, these perspectives will provide a comprehensive framework for developing a truly resilient society connected by various forms of local communication.
