 <\/p>\n

Japan has been dependent on overseas imports for timber since its high economic growth period, and Japan is now the world's fourth largest importer of timber. On the other hand, in the Philippines, a former lumber supplier, forests that covered approximately 50% of the country around 1900 were reduced to only 181 TP3T in 1999, and how to regenerate the lost forests is now a challenge.
\nIn this lecture, we will invite Mr. Jay of Galansiyang, a drone afforestation startup that was set up to solve forest issues in the Philippines, to discuss what kind of technology we can stand on and how we can collaborate in reforestation to realize a sustainable world. We will think about this here in Kagawa, where rainfall is low and we know more about the importance of forests as a source of water than anywhere else.<\/span><\/p>\n

We will have a program of discussions among researchers, startups, and large companies from a variety of perspectives, not limited to the themes of this session. For more information, please refer to the conference website.<\/span>

Dreaming of creating a technology company since he was 12 years old, he started raising funds for drone projects in high school and succeeded in building and flying his first DIY drone at the age of 16. After attending Mindanao State Iligan Institute of Technology, he founded a startup with a fellow thesis student. After graduating and working as a university researcher, he is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Galansiyang Inc.<\/span><\/p>\n
