Construction is an extremely important industry that supports our country economically and physically. Without the construction industry, we would not have access to housing, office and commercial facilities, and infrastructure such as the Great Seto Bridge. However, the declining birthrate and aging population are accelerating labor shortages in the construction industry, and it is projected that by 2025 there will be a supply-demand gap of approximately 1.3 million workers short of the number of workers needed in the industry (Japan Federation of Construction Contractors Associations, 2018). For the prosperity of our country, there is an urgent need to secure human resources and improve productivity in the construction industry.<\/p>\n
Mr. Mabe, who has been involved in construction work as a craftsman himself, is working to secure human resources and improve productivity in the construction industry by developing labor-saving solutions for construction sites that meet on-site needs through the use of science and technology under the philosophy of \"creating the world's most people-friendly construction sites. In particular, the company is committed to the development, manufacture, and dissemination of Tomorobo, a cooperative rebar tying robot that reduces the psychological and physiological burden of rebar tying work for craftspeople.<\/p>\n
How did Mr. Mabe's passion for solving problems in Japan's construction industry and improving the work site environment around the world take shape? What kind of fusion of knowledge is behind it, and how will it develop in the future? We hope that Mr. Mabe's lecture will provide you with an opportunity to reflect on how you can build bridges of knowledge fusion from Setouchi yourself.<\/p>\n

Mr. Tatsuya Manabe<\/strong> Born in 1976. Born in Kagawa Prefecture, he is a genuine Sanuki native who grew up eating udon as baby food. After graduating from high school, he entered a culinary school thinking it was a job where he could express himself. After graduation, he trained at several restaurants, but due to a friction with the chef, he left for a while and helped his father's construction company, Miyakojima Kogyo, in his search for his next apprenticeship. In the midst of a bankruptcy crisis, the bank imposed a change of management. As the manager, he improved the financial situation and developed the company, and rebuilt it into a company that is now recognized as an excellent company. He established EMO Co., Ltd. to solve various problems on site, and changed its name to Kenrobotech Co., Ltd. when Tomorobo was developed. Winner of the Grand Prize at the 2nd Kagawa Tech Plan Grand Prix.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
