Oral presentations by recipients of the REVANES research grant and others, and the \"Technology Splash,\" a three-minute presentation by researchers from academia, venture companies, and business firms that began at this year's conference, provided participants with a variety of the latest research topics along with a lot of heat. In the poster presentations held throughout the two days, researchers from academia, venture companies, and business firms were joined by research teams of high school and elementary school students, creating a space of knowledge that could not be experienced at any other conference.<\/p>\n

New Forms of Research and Development<\/h2>\n

Can technological development be accelerated by creating R&D teams between fields and industries that have never had the opportunity to meet before? Through the intervention of communicators, RIVANES is seeking a mechanism to promote R&D through the fusion of different fields. Sessions on related activities were held on the second day of the conference. One is \"DeSET,\" a project launched in 2017 to develop technologies that could dramatically accelerate the measurement and topographic mapping of seafloor topography, for which high-resolution information is still not available for about 85% of the entire ocean. The other is \"Mitsubishi Electric Idea Plus,\" a two-month initiative in which a team of machi-factory masters, students, and researchers worked together to come up with new applications for existing patented technologies from large companies.<\/p>\n

Imagine the world of the future<\/h2>\n

A new carnivorous culture is being created by technology. Robots are a common part of our daily lives. What is a human being? A diverse lineup of researchers, engineers, and entrepreneurs who are leading advanced research took part in sessions that expanded ideas about the future one step ahead. At the \"Cellular Agriculture Conference,\" researchers from Japan and abroad, as well as pure meat ventures, presented their visions for the future of artificial meat production. In the \"Society in which Robots are Commonplace\" session, corporate robot engineers, robot ventures, and entrepreneurs trying to relieve loneliness with alter ego robots discussed the relationship between robots and humans in the future as they envisioned it. In \"Humanome Research Begins,\" which served as the last session of the conference, the concept of humanome research, which considers what humans are by integrating and analyzing various human-related data such as the epigenome, intestinal flora, sleep, and bones, was discussed, and what challenges are about to begin in the future. The presentation was followed by a discussion of the challenges that lie ahead.<\/p>\n

In each of the sessions, the fundamental importance of communication was reaffirmed: how knowledge is created, venture technology for creating organizations that make the most of people, and environments that nurture creative human resources.<\/p>\n

It is not only adults who gather at the Super Interdisciplinary Conference. Junior high and high school students, and even elementary school students, are among the main participants.
\nNot only did domestic junior high and high school students gather for poster presentations, but also elementary school students participating in the Liberace's training program for the next generation of researchers brought with them the results of their year-long research. In addition, the best teams from Science Castle, a conference for junior and senior high school students held in four locations in Japan and in Singapore and Malaysia, gathered for presentations and Q&A sessions in English.
